Who We Are |
The Hinckley Area Food Pantry is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
We are governed by a Board of Directors and Bylaws set forth when we organized. We are 100% volunteer operated and donation funded. |
Our Mission |
To operate a non-profit food pantry for the purpose of distribution of food to persons requesting assistance.
|
Our History |
The Hinckley Area Food Pantry was founded by Kim Franzen, Vicki Langer, Rev. Kate Feeney-Bastian and Nan Long in 1993. After researching and visiting other pantries, they secured a donation of shelves and supplies and got started. Kim's vision that the pantry should be for surrounding communities brought the name Hinckley Area Food Pantry. We opened our doors for the first time in June of 1993. Kim's passing just a few years later led founding members to dedicate the pantry in her memory.
When they started this mission, area ministers delivered food to clients. As trust grew throughout the community, we were able to transition to a client pick up model and we still serve that way today. Guarding client privacy and respecting their needs is a guiding principle. |
