Client Shopping Hours
Saturday Mornings & Monday Evenings
We assist clients with shopping on various dates throughout the month, usually the first and third Saturday mornings (7:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.) and the Monday evenings following (4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.). We need volunteers to assist clients while shopping and to help get the food to their cars. We also help with other tasks like organizing donations and shelving products.

Food Delivery & Stocking
1st Friday of the Month
We gather to unpack a delivery of food from the Northern Illinois Food Bank and put the products onto the shelves in the pantry.

Food Pick Up (DeKalb)
1st & 3rd Monday of the Month
We pick up food in DeKalb from the Northern Illinois Food Bank and bring it to Waterman where it is unloaded and put on the shelves.

Retail Shopping

We need volunteers to shop at retail stores (Meijer, Aldi, dollar stores, etc.) to purchase items we couldn't get from the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Library and School Food Transport

HAFP provides healthy snacks and other food items to the local schools and Hinckley Library. When levels get low we need someone to package the food and take it from the pantry to the location that is in need.

Group Opportunities
We have Scouts, 4-H, FFA, school, church, and community organizations who volunteer their time and talents. Volunteer opportunities include stocking shelves, packing groceries, sorting donations, shopping, picking up donations, helping with monthly deliveries, and distributions.
