Together, we can make a difference!

Your time is valuable and you want to put it to good use.
We love that about our volunteers!

Why not invest in the important work of making sure our neighbors have the food they need to thrive?

It’s easy, fun, and so important in our ability to get the work done.
No matter your age or ability there is a task you can do.

Hinckley Area Food Pantry is 100% volunteer operated!

Client Shopping Hours

Saturday Mornings & Monday Evenings
We assist clients with shopping on various dates throughout the month, usually the first and third Saturday mornings (7:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.) and the Monday evenings following (4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.). We need volunteers to assist clients while shopping and to help get the food to their cars. We also help with other tasks like organizing donations and shelving products.

Food Delivery & Stocking

1st Friday of the Month
We gather to unpack a delivery of food from the Northern Illinois Food Bank and put the products onto the shelves in the pantry.

Food Pick Up (DeKalb)

1st & 3rd Monday of the Month
We pick up food in DeKalb from the Northern Illinois Food Bank and bring it to Waterman where it is unloaded and put on the shelves.

Retail Shopping

Various Dates & Times
We need volunteers to shop at retail stores (Meijer, Aldi, dollar stores, etc.) to purchase items we couldn't get from the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Library and School Food Transport

Various Dates & Times

HAFP provides healthy snacks and other food items to the local schools and Hinckley Library. When levels get low we need someone to package the food and take it from the pantry to the location that is in need.

Group Opportunities

We have Scouts, 4-H, FFA, school, church, and community organizations who volunteer their time and talents. Volunteer opportunities include stocking shelves, packing groceries, sorting donations, shopping, picking up donations, helping with monthly deliveries, and distributions.

Contact us if you are looking for a volunteer opportunity for a group!
